LURE FISHING CAPE YORK

Weipa offers an incredible variety of lure fishing options, all of which revolve around the tides.

High tide can require accurate casting amongst the mangrove roots, on the flats and on particular fallen snags, up side creeks. It also brings the option of casting lures and flies along the rocky headlands and beaches, where Barramundi, Blue Salmon, Queenfish and various other species can often be found.

Lee’s favourite form of lure fishing around Weipa is top water fishing. This is simply because you get to see, and usually hear, the bite from the barra or threadfin salmon.

The bulk of this style of fishing takes place towards the bottom end of the tide, when the water drains off the massive flats and concentrates in gutters and back eddies.

Drain fishing is also extremely user-friendly to the lure fisherman, because you can generally cast in any direction with nothing but water or mud to hit if you misjudge your cast.

We know the best times and spots to catch the big fish. We work with you to understand your interests and passions, to put you in the right place at the right time. For more info, call Lee 0431 427 129.
